The first month home....April and May 2008

The first month was spent just getting to know Leanna and learning her likes and dislikes. She was VERY clingy to Mama but learning not to be afraid of Daddy and she was letting him get a bit closer each day. She loved playing with Will, but only if she initiated the play. If Will got anywhere near me, she was not happy. We also saw some jealousy from Will. On her first Dr.'s visit she weighed 24 pounds, was 33 inches tall. Blood tests revealed that she was anemic and was also a little behind on her imunizations. They told us that she did not have asthma nor did any of us see any evidence of skin rashes other than the one spot on her right cheek.
We also found out that she was afraid of grass, dogs, and airplane noises (we lived on a military base that was in the direct path of Air Force landings that sometimes would rattle the building). She loved to eat and would eat almost anything that we put in front of her. She was especially fond of rice, noodles of any kind, and any kind of small crackers. She kept them in her hands most of the time. She wasn't as crazy about the bottle as they had told us so we switched over to a sippy cup, which she loved. She slept a lot but seemed restless in her sleep and never still. She sucked her thumb and rubbed any soft cloth with the other hand when she was tired.
